PhoenixDH8 Nov 2013 08:49Hello everyone, we are planning to house all the technical equipment in the utility room inside a server cabinet. There is a power strip installed in the server cabinet. Now the question is whether I also need electrical outlets in the area of the utility room where the cables enter. As far as I know, the main distribution points (HÜP) from Kabel Deutschland and Telekom do not require direct power. If amplifiers or other components that need power are necessary, I would have them in my small server cabinet, where all the equipment is actually going to be installed, including the main distribution points. Is this setup feasible? So, placing the main distribution points inside the server cabinet and leaving the cables from the house connection long enough to arrange them inside the cabinet? Thanks.
Hello,
the handover points will not be installed by the technicians inside the network cabinet, as there is no fixed installation location for them. I would have them placed near the cabinet and still have a power outlet installed there, since you never know if you might need an active amplifier or something similar in the future. From the handover points, you can then run cables directly to the cabinet and install your cable modem or DSL splitter there.

If you remove the back panel, you also have a solid surface behind it, namely the wall. Or am I misunderstanding something?
When I read "server cabinet," remember to have a separate grounding cable installed. Our electrician just included it without any issues. Generally, grounding is also done through the power outlet, but having an additional grounding connection can’t hurt and is recommended by almost all equipment manufacturers.

Of course, you can have the sockets mounted directly on your house wall and then place the cabinet in front of them.
