I have a question about the obvious price range for infrared panels. The purchase cost of a 500W infrared panel is somewhere between €100 and €200 when bought online or through major building material chains/furniture stores.
The offers from companies specializing in infrared heating technology are significantly higher, starting at €500. How can this difference be explained? Installation costs are not included here.
Is the quality of the products really that much better, or are the specialized dealers simply unable to compete with the price pressure?
Thanks for your insights!
Best regards,
Florian

I believe the design is what drives the cost here.

I have noticed something similar with towel radiators that have electric heating elements. There are several suppliers with prices over 500€ (about 540 USD). Then there are smaller private labels or suppliers that you won’t find on major platforms like R*uter, offering products around 200€ (about 215 USD).
In my opinion, the technology is basically at a very basic level across all versions. The difference mainly comes down to design and brand. Possibly the thermostat control as well (smart, attractive, simple, or unattractive).
Or am I missing something? I have now ordered from anapond because my general contractor had already installed theirs before.

The same applies to all bathroom fixtures. I am currently looking for a very simple, inexpensive hand washbasin for the guest toilet (as a replacement). In specialized stores, nothing is available for less than €300, whereas online and at hardware stores you can find options starting at €50.
It gets even worse when a plumber is involved who refuses to install third-party products unless you pay extra. However, they often have discount rates that they don’t pass on. On the other hand, they do assume liability. In any case, the whole situation is extremely confusing.
Unfortunately, this is quite common.

The technology behind them is usually simple but functional and easy to replace. For the front panels, you can choose from various materials like glass, colored metal, stone, etc.
For us, it was important that glass modules could be recessed into the concrete ceiling; however, if you only want a single standard module, most systems should work without any issues.
