Hello everyone. I am currently in the process of buying a house, which I described in another thread. However, while looking through the photos, I noticed some stains or discolorations in the basement (see photo). That’s why I’m asking here in this specialized forum. I couldn’t detect any odor or mustiness. What do you think? Could this possibly indicate moisture? Thanks in advance!

Basement room with heating and plumbing pipes, cables, light bulb, window, and floor drain.

Try to find out the previous use of the space.
If laundry was regularly hung there to dry, the issue should be resolved after a few days of using a dryer.

Just place a hygrometer and use a capacitive moisture meter for the wall;
then the answer will become clear.

As a meticulous organizer and a reader who was already confused in the last thread, I would like to offer you the advice to create separate threads for each property and then post facts, questions, and photos there. This way, readers can directly associate the construction year with the photo and find it easier to understand the image.

I completely agree with you. However, I thought this was a rather specific question and would be better placed in the "masonry" forum. This concerns the mid-terrace house from the previous thread.

Well, or at least provide a link.

For "non-regular visitors" who have a specific problem and could benefit, dividing discussions into topic-related threads within the respective subforum is actually better. With the forum’s limited search function, you can forget about someone searching and finding the exact right answer in a 40-80 page thread.

Row house, window side… if only we also had the year of construction and preferably a photo of the garden in front… 🙄. But it’s your thread, so it’s up to you.
My guess is: for a relatively new house, it looks quite worn out 😉
P.S. I also recommend using a moisture meter.
