Hello everyone, my partner and I have bought a house where we are currently having the 1980 windows replaced. After the first windows were installed, I was surprised to see that the window sticks out inward. The window fitter said that a drywall installer needs to come because it is a prefabricated house and that this is completely normal.
My question is whether this is normal, or if the window fitter ordered windows that are too deep. Unfortunately, I can't find any similar questions online, so I’m left assuming that either this is normal or so unusual that no one else has encountered it.

HilfeHilfe13 Sep 2021 06:20What is the drywall installer supposed to do? They have to apply at least 5 cm (2 inches) of plaster there. The measurement should have been taken beforehand.

I assume that the exterior guide rails of the roller shutters formed a "natural" boundary, which is why he didn’t want to adjust the installation plane. The old windows were probably actually shallower as well. But he should have considered (measured) this beforehand and, if necessary, planned for additional effort. As it stands, this is not acceptable.
The windows do not protrude; they are flush with the wall.
The photo shows far too little. You would also need to see the exterior view and check what was ordered and how thick the walls are. Also: is there a photo of the old window?
What does the cross-section of the wall look like from above? Exactly where is the window installed in relation to the wall thickness?
