ᐅ What type of shelf or storage is recommended in a shower for a new build?

Hello,

we are considering which shower shelf would be practical for shampoo and similar items in a new build.

A shower niche is not possible (it would reduce the shower floor space and make the shower too small for us).

These shower baskets keep falling off ://

What alternatives are there for new builds that are also durable and visually appealing?

It should definitely be something sturdy and resistant, capable of holding a few kilograms.

Niches only look nice if they are cleaned regularly. Who wants to clean all the small areas, especially with grout lines? By now, I’m glad I don’t have a niche. The cleaning effort would be too much for me. Besides, it seems like people tend to store as many bottles there as possible. A nicely arranged niche is something I’ve only seen in catalogs, not in real life.
A hanging device (either screwed in or with a suction cup) works great. They also come in attractive designs.

However, I’m going to try the ribbon method now. 😀

Thank you for your messages.

We actually like the solution with the tile shelves built into the wall.

What other options would be available that hold well?

Gluing shelves or shower baskets probably won’t hold up over time, right?

Would it still be an option to screw shelves or shower baskets in?

I know shower baskets with suction cups that last for years. My father has a shelf screwed in, but the screws are rusting. I would prefer a shelf with suction cups in Schön.

So far, I have only had bad experiences with glued and suction cup variants.

For the screws, you would probably need to use stainless steel to prevent rusting.

There are also ready-made niches available, for example made of stainless steel with LED lighting.

I would probably also go for a finished niche. I find that quite practical.
