Hello fellow homeowners,
Originally, I planned to rely entirely on satellite TV, but now I’m wondering if it would be better to also install a cable connection (here Unitymedia) before the house is built and all the utilities are laid. I’ve read about a flat fee of €199 (approximately $215). That would definitely be doable.
My initial plan was to install a satellite multiswitch on the roof and distribute the signal down to the basement from there. How could the cable connection be distributed from below so that I would only need to switch something in case of an emergency (for example, if the satellite dish stops working)?
Best regards

EUR 258.50 for a contract with 3play + Digital TV service
EUR 408.50 for a contract with 2play, or Digital TV service only, or a Business product contract
EUR 866.56 without a contract with Unitymedia
All prices include VAT and are valid only if Unitymedia can connect to the underground house connection without having to do any excavation themselves.
The EUR 199 fee applies only in the ideal case. We will use Unitymedia for internet and add a satellite system. Additionally, the Telekom connection will be installed in the house to have an alternative option for the future – since the trenches will be dug anyway!

Thanks for the info. What would be the ideal scenario? We have about 10-15m (33-49 feet) up to the house. The line would be installed at the same time if the rest of the lines are being dug up anyway. Unfortunately, I don’t know the ideal scenario. In our case, it’s 15m (49 feet) from the street to the house wall – the price is based on this length and assumes that the line installation is done together with the utility provider. But if not now, then when? Doing it later costs a lot more – digging up the street, trenching, possibly redoing the driveway/front yard, and installing it again inside the house...
I would definitely have everything possible installed, even if it isn’t used right now, since you never know what technologies providers will offer in a few years.
For now, I will use satellite for TV, and cable for internet and phone. I will have the Telekom line installed as well, but it will remain unused for the time being.
