Hello everyone,

we are currently planning the living and dining area of our condominium. Construction has not started yet, so we have complete freedom regarding the connections and placement of the kitchen.

The floor plan of the room is somewhat challenging, and I’m not sure if we might be overcomplicating the initial planning. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate any tips on how to best design and divide the space.

The room needs to accommodate: kitchen, dining table, sofa + projector or TV.

Notes on the planning:
- The screen in the center is to be mounted on the ceiling and only lowered when watching movies.
- The table should be pushed all the way against the wall in normal use and only pulled further into the room when there are many guests, so that additional people can sit on the bench. (I have attached one version for 8 people and one for 6 people.)

Do you have any other ideas to make the best use of the space? The kitchen island is not absolutely necessary, but due to the pillar, the use of the room seems rather limited from my perspective.

Best regards and thanks for your help

For me, it's generally about the basic layout of the space.

The measurements should be accurate.

I don’t have any software to plan it properly yet (Do you have a recommendation for software?).

Why don’t you take the original plan, photograph it (for a “raw condition” image for us), and then make a to-scale enlarged copy, so you can move cut-out furniture pieces around on it?

The way you did it instead, you’re missing out on sharing several pieces of information that many people here could understand if you had included them. And you’re forcing yourself to use a tool that is unnecessarily complicated for the task and requires a learning curve.

… or sketch it out on graph paper.
By the way, millimeter paper is available for download online 😉

Hello everyone,

I understood and thought this would be sufficient and actually simpler.

Here is the complete floor plan of the apartment.

The screen is a bit too close to the sofa.

I just placed them there to indicate the general direction. I assume this also depends on the size and the projector position.

Your kitchen/kitchen island is definitely too large for the 27 sqm (290 sq ft) where dining and living are also meant to take place. Maybe a small U-shaped kitchen instead.

And the coats are practically hanging in the kitchen (hallway1)? 😎
