- can you give up: maybe the pantry
- cannot give up:

Why is the design the way it is?
For example: a lot of self-designed plans and visits to prefab homes

Hello! We already have another plan shared in this forum, but we are considering changing from a straight staircase to a spiral staircase.

What do you think about my design?
Is there enough space for the pantry behind the kitchen?
How do you find the room sizes?

Floor Plan Change Due to Staircase
I would have found it helpful to illustrate a side-by-side comparison of the original and revised designs, describing in text where the floor plan changes due to the different staircase option, how extensive these changes are, and why.

Have you actually been searching in vain for an existing building and now want to build a new house instead with a "renovated look"?

Do you consider this to be a plan of an older building?

Not in a charming sense. But in the sense that "it looks more like a makeshift layout than a well-designed plan," unfortunately yes.

Please provide clear dimensions, labels, and furnish the layout (without laminate flooring). Then, "look more often."

But the original poster has already done all that?? One version with dimensions and one furnished.

I don’t understand that. Personally, I think the floor plan is good!

What I would change:
- Leave the stairway to the basement open; it adds more spaciousness to the hallway and the staircase won’t feel like a dark hole.
- Remove the pantry since you have a basement where you can store a lot. Climbing stairs extends your life! 😉
- Instead of 400 cm (13 feet) wide, make the kitchen 425 cm (14 feet) wide, so you can fit seven tall cabinets of 60 cm (24 inches) each side by side. This provides plenty of storage space.
- The dining table will also have enough room if the kitchen is pushed all the way to the back/top wall.
- The staircase shifts 25 cm (10 inches) to the left, the bathroom becomes a bit smaller (110 cm (43 inches) is enough for shower and toilet). The bedroom also becomes 25 cm (10 inches) narrower, but you have plenty of space there. The kids’ room gains those 25 cm (10 inches).

Is the cloakroom accessed through the wardrobe?
Do you have exterior views? A few windows are still missing, for example in the bathroom and the children’s room.
