I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

We decided on a rock garden. The gaps between the stones are now being further planted. There is also a geotextile fabric underneath.
It’s still a construction site at the moment; I am wiring the lighting and power outlets, and some stones are still missing. I got quite a muscle ache; a few tons of stones are still in the driveway.
The beer table will be replaced by a nicer table.

Are you serious or just joking? It looks like a gravel pit, not a garden.

Can this really be called normal indoor noise level when 45db still reaches my property side behind the fence?

Actually, 45db is not loud at all. It corresponds roughly to the ambient noise level inside a home that is not located on a busy street. So it's pretty much normal indoor noise level.

Sitting here on the terrace right now, and even the birds are currently chirping at an average of 57.4 dB.

If 45-50 dB already bothers you, I think it will be really difficult for you in any new residential area in Germany. The app describes it as a quiet whisper.

45 decibels is really not loud. If you are that sensitive, why didn’t you choose a quieter location?

I mostly read along quietly here and enjoy the pictures. But I just have to say thanks for the tip about the Zeppelin perennial beds. They really look charming 🙂 I can already picture them thriving in my front yard 😀

I planted the mauve and silver Zeppelin beds in my garden last year and overall, I am really happy with them.
I will have to move a few perennials because the spacing didn’t quite work out... and 3 out of 28 have died... but the rest look great. I just wanted something quick and didn’t want to deal with figuring out what blooms when and which plants go well together...

Very cool! Thanks!
I only saw your reply today.
Right now, I’ve completely lost any interest in the garden. Regardless of the weather, we actually just stay indoors. As soon as the sun comes out and I open the patio door, I either hear country music or techno blasting from the neighbor’s property. Usually, I just turn around and go back inside immediately.
I’m starting to not know what else to do. He insists the volume is at normal indoor levels. But I don’t know if you can really call it normal indoor volume when 45 dB still reaches my side of the property behind the fence (even after he’s already turned it down).
At the moment, though, his music is being drowned out by his rebellious teenager, who’s driving a non-road-legal motorcycle in circles around the residential area… what a Sunday.

I totally understand; I would be annoyed too. But you have to expose yourself to it—that’s called exposure therapy… play some soft, pleasant music yourself and spend time in your garden. Otherwise, you get stuck focusing on the neighbor’s noise and the frustration, and it becomes so present in your mind that you can only concentrate on it…
Do you have any form of privacy screen or visual barrier facing their property?
