Hello,
Unfortunately, in an old building, I have a baseboard cable duct that is glued to the PVC floor with silicone. It is also attached to the wall (wallpaper).
Removing the duct for laminate flooring installation on top of the PVC is therefore... less than ideal.

I know what the absolutely proper solution would be, but unfortunately, I don’t have the time or budget for it.

What could I do? The laminate will be installed almost directly next to it, and silicone probably isn’t a good option, right?
Is there some kind of adhesive lip that can be attached to the baseboard cable duct?

Thanks a lot!!

Not the perfect solution, but a quick and simple approach would be to install the floor with a small gap to the base channel and then glue a small quarter round molding on top as a finish.

You can look it up online; it’s usually available in most hardware stores.

Ah, cool idea, thanks!

I started cutting a channel at the bottom in one room with a multitool. It works, but it’s incredibly time-consuming :/
Also, the installation isn’t easy because you can’t lay it at an angle.

White door trim on the floor with a gap to the gray wood floor; adhesive tape residue on the carpet.

That is time-consuming, I believe.
The quarter rounds are also available in white, and they can even look stylish.

Really great tip! I have a room where the baseboard cable channels run along three of the four walls. For the last row, there was no other way but to run the cables in front of them. The quarter-round mouldings provide a perfect finish. I attached them to the baseboard channels using double-sided tape 🙂
