Hello,

for example, I need to install a phone cable A-2Y(L)2Y 2x2x0.8mm² (2x2x0.003in²) to my rainwater cistern for level measurement, as well as at other locations, such as the garden gate. I want to gather the cables in the garage and then bring them into the house with an A-2Y(L)2Y 10x2x0.8mm² (10x2x0.003in²) cable.

The distance from the garage to the cistern is about 25 m (82 feet). In theory, I could run a 4x2x0.8mm² (4x2x0.003in²) cable to the cistern and from there continue to the garden gate, which is another 25 m (82 feet) away. However, I am wondering how and where I could connect the cables? Are there underground or above-ground waterproof junction boxes available?

Yes, it exists (just google Cellpack). You just have to use a "large" one, then equip the interior with an LSA distributor (standard LSA supports up to max. 0.8mm²).

I won’t question the purpose now, but I recommend using outdoor-rated CAT7 cable instead.

Hello,
I am installing a CAT7 cable in parallel for the hands-free system. I plan to use the telephone cable at the cistern to connect a level sensor and at the garden gate for one or two reed switches.

I have researched further and will probably install a distribution box at the top of the dome of the cistern.

Friedl junction boxes with couplings. They are IP 68 rated and relatively affordable.

Possibly also add a coaxial cable to the cistern, so you can switch to ultrasonic measurement if your currently planned method doesn’t work. 😉

I am also using the same ones. Unfortunately, I cut the opening on the rubber end cap too large on one of them. Does anyone have a tip on how to fix this without having to buy a new box (I couldn’t find any replacement parts anywhere)?
