Hello,

we are considering having vinyl or luxury vinyl flooring installed. Approximately how much did you pay for 145 sq meters (1560 sq ft)? We would like to have a glued-down floor. Is it cheaper than installing tiles or hardwood flooring?

The material is more expensive than the cheapest tiles. It is about the same price or slightly less expensive than the most affordable hardwood flooring but can also be more expensive than high-quality tiles or hardwood.
So, in the end, the cost differences are minimal.
Installation is likely to be about as complex as gluing down hardwood flooring (possibly easier, as some types can be cut with a utility knife).
Tiling is the most labor-intensive.
Compared to laminate flooring, I find this material too expensive since it is fundamentally quite similar. So if you are very price-conscious and don’t mind plastic in your living area, I would recommend laminate instead.

I wouldn’t glue down cheap materials. The lifespan of laminate or luxury vinyl flooring is about 15 years, and neither can be sanded or refinished. In high-traffic areas, it can be even shorter, depending on quality and maintenance. Removing glued-down flooring is really a hassle.

And why do you want to have a synthetic floor installed throughout the whole house, considering the performance offered? You might as well just lay Aldi shopping bags on the floor 😉 .

Roughly estimated 10-15k.

- Primer
- Subfloor
- Vinyl flooring
- Baseboards / skirting boards
- Clips
- Corner and transition profiles
- Transition strips
- Finishing strips

It’s best to visit local suppliers and request quotes. Don’t forget the plans.
