Hello,

In our semi-detached house from the developer, all windows come with electric roller shutters as standard, except for the bathroom on the first floor and the guest toilet on the ground floor.

My question is, should I ask about the additional cost (we estimate around 400-500€) for electric roller shutters in the guest toilet on the ground floor due to increased burglary protection?

Frosted glass is always installed in the guest toilet and bathroom.

Both bathroom windows face northeast, but slightly more east than north.

So, I have a small window in both the guest bathroom and the main bathroom, each without blinds or shutters. Additionally, there is a large hallway window also without any shading. The house side faces northeast, basically at a 45° angle. see here I will see how this works out during the peak summer months when the house is occupied. During the structural phase, the last few hot days were actually quite comfortable, but the sun definitely comes in during the morning. All other windows have external blinds (ground and upper floor) or shutters (upper floor).

Who actually closes the roller shutters to take a shower? Frosted glass is sufficient. I would always choose electric roller shutters if the rest of the house is equipped that way. You will never retrofit them (you need electricity, which causes mess and costs a lot). The few euros (if it's only 400-500€) are definitely worth it.

When I turn on the lights, I close the roller shutters.

The northeast side should be fine without shading.

If roller shutters are installed, they should be electric roller shutters, that much is clear.

The question is whether we even need a roller shutter in our bathrooms.

Why is a roller shutter not considered burglary protection?

We have a roller shutter in the guest bathroom and we do use it. In the afternoon, the sun shines on it, but we also use it in the evening. The window is tilted open and the roller shutter is set to ventilation.
