My partner and I have been searching for a plot of land for quite a while now. We live in Hamburg and, like many others at the moment, would like to build in the suburbs.
I recently spoke with a municipality in South Holstein, where there are over 1,000 applications for 25 plots. It really makes you wonder if it’s even worth applying there.
The situation is no better further north either. What has been your experience?
So far, I am on a waiting list. There are 15 plots available in the town, and I am number 26 on the list.

Otherwise, Süderelbe is also nice 😎... a bit wet, the Elbe River, even in the south. Pile foundations or the mentioned houseboats are popular :pB
BauFamily22 May 2021 22:24A lot of people drop out for various reasons: financial situation changes/job change, inheritance, divorce, they’re not happy with the location after all, the zoning plan makes the dream house impossible, the children don’t want to move, etc... just make sure you don’t end up dropping out yourself 🙂
