Hello everyone,
I am currently considering which type of interior doors to install in my new build. I came across flush or wall-aligned doors. I have done some research but found very little concrete information or user experience. I especially like wall-aligned doors for their aesthetics, as I appreciate simplicity and subtlety, and they greatly enhance the overall room impression. Therefore, I would like to use such doors. I understand that they are somewhat more expensive than standard doors. My questions are:
Thanks for your experiences and input!

I understand that they are somewhat more expensive than standard doors. My questions are:
- Are these doors still uncommon, or have they become standard practice?
- Are there any requirements to consider during the rough construction phase?
- What would you estimate is the additional cost of a flush or wall-aligned door compared to a door with a standard frame? Including purchase price plus installation costs.
- Besides the price, are there any other reasons against using these doors?
Thanks for your experiences and input!

The doors must be installed with millimeter precision because even the smallest deviation is immediately visible in the gaps. Even in the premium segment, it can be expected that frequently used doors will need occasional readjustment.

The door is flush on only one side; if the door opening direction is wrong, it looks awkward. That was exactly the reason why we ruled it out quite early. Our doors (where there are any) all open inward into the room, so from the central spot in the hallway/entrance you don’t see them at all. It’s just a nicer sight when you’re sitting on the toilet or lying in bed. :p

My impression from your thread history is that you’re one of those people who pick individual details like puzzle pieces and then assemble them in a test tube to create your house as some kind of Frankenstein’s hybrid. I would like to point out that—based on my own number of posts, which you can carefully extrapolate to see how many I’ve read—I don’t recall any case where this approach has been referred to as a success story.
