Hello dear building community!

I’ve been looking around the forum but unfortunately haven’t found a suitable answer to my question:

Which CAD software would you recommend for designing your own home including the plot of land?

- I’m familiar with CAD software
- I’m willing to invest a reasonable amount
- A balance between user-friendliness and professionalism
- Ability to model terrain with elevation data (sloped site)
- Up-to-date, easy to use, 3D capability

I have 1–2 years for planning and want to draft the design myself using geoinformation and building regulations to see what fits best. If the design eventually meets my standards, I would hand it over to an architect to create a professional model suitable for submission.

I have looked at, for example, "Die Hausplaner" House Planner 3D Master and immocado’s 3D Architect Professional.

What do you think? Alternatives? Suggestions?

I am completely confused: a CAD person (someone who wants to be skilled) is asking about CAD software... it’s okay if it costs something means: priced in the entry-level range... personal demands are equated with professionalism, and the expert is supposed to just copy the amateur model. Question: which method does the architect use for design? <- this question is serious, the answer is hidden in the detailed text #2

Yes... only that I usually model things for 3D printers or use CAD software in mechanical engineering. I work with Blender. While it’s certainly possible to design a house with lighting, 3D rendering, furniture, and all the extras, it’s far too complex.

But thanks, you’ve all been very helpful! In the end, I’m deciding on the House Planner 3D from "Die Hausplaner." It basically does exactly what I need. SketchUp is also good, but whatever. #closed

I would ask the architect you want to work with what software they use, and then use that.
That can be expensive, though. Most of us won’t want to buy software like ArchiCAD for €3800 (about $4200) in the basic version without any extras just for our own planning 😉

LibreCAD is quite extensive for 2D work.

LibreCAD is very comprehensive for 2D work, though.

Please ignore my post. I only saw the first entries, sorry

I would choose GTA V.
That way, the house could be occupied right away.
