Dear forum,

we are currently planning the construction of our single-family house. Last week, I created an initial draft for the lighting and electrical installation, which I would like to share here for discussion.
Do you think I should reduce the number of recessed ceiling lights? Are the power outlets sufficient? I look forward to your comments!

I can definitely recommend wall lights for the open-plan area. In our home, they are installed at 1.85 meters (6 feet) height, so they are out of direct sight and shine upwards. We use them mostly in the living area.

Thank you for the hint. How can I edit my post? Unfortunately, I can’t find the option.

It is also worth considering where to install recessed lighting and where to use surface-mounted fixtures. Surface-mounted fixtures can often be angled to illuminate walls, artwork, or similar features.

Semi-offtopic: the plans include your name and address, you should probably remove them quickly.
How can I delete the plans again?

I took a quick look at the LAN setup. It seems fine overall, but I would always prefer to install a double socket instead of a single one. What’s missing are the access points—on the ground floor, upper floor, terrace? What are you planning for the front door? Also, make sure to include LAN connections when preparing for the electric vehicle charging station.

Good point! I assume the access points are intended for Wi-Fi. Would 1-2 per floor be sufficient? Why do I need LAN at the EV charging station? Apart from a standard intercom system, nothing is planned at the front door. We are building in a tiny village right next to the extended family, so I don’t see any need for additional technology at the door.

A LAN connection at the charging station may be necessary for intelligent control, especially if you want to benefit from available subsidies.

One access point per floor should be sufficient for the size of the house.

Additionally, a motorized lock at the door could be considered, along with other sensors such as RFID, fingerprint scanners, etc., and generally status indicators for open/closed/locked.
