I’m saying a good gas heating system combined with decent photovoltaic panels is the best option for both the climate and your finances 🙂
There are many things to debate, but this hasn’t been one of them for many years.

Interesting—why exactly now?

Come on. Heard of climate change? CO2, methane? What’s this nonsense? How do you come to think that there’s ANY benefit to the climate from a gas heating system?
Your opinion is solely about your wallet. That’s fine with me. I can accept that. I’m not free from financial considerations either. No problem, as long as nobody claims that gas is good for the climate. Gas is extremely harmful to the climate. Especially when it hasn’t been burned. That’s been known since the 1980s.

Well, a properly adjusted gas boiler is probably more environmentally friendly at first than a poorly adjusted heat pump running on coal-generated electricity. But of course, you can always calculate the numbers in a way that supports your point.

Really? Do you know? Have you done the calculations? What does it look like in the long run?

I don’t want to criticize anyone’s already installed and well-adjusted gas boiler here. I’ve also heated with oil for a long time. I even still have a car that occasionally needs gasoline. I don’t want anyone to be cold either!
But if you know that it’s better to stop burning fossil fuels sooner rather than later, then even considering the NEW INSTALLATION of a gas heating system is just plain foolish. Sorry.

The Austrians really have some very poor and unwise politicians. But they have banned gas heating systems. This should gradually make our government think twice about whether we really still need pipelines from countries like Russia.
