Hello everyone,
we are nearing the completion of the detailed planning phase and the start of construction. I’ve already gone through the whole “I want everything until I want nothing” phase regarding smart home features. By now, I would simply like to be able to operate the roller shutters and blinds via an app.
Here are the requirements:
So far, it looks like only the Gira System 3000 with a Bluetooth module (remote control would then be difficult) is a candidate, or alternatively adding Shelly or flush-mounted actuators (e.g., Bosch, etc.).
I’ve already read and researched pretty much everything about KNX, Loxone, Hager Easy, Homematic, Somfy radio, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and similar systems. Somehow, I seem to be missing something simple or haven’t yet seen a solution that covers the above requirements.
What else is out there, or what would you recommend? Does anyone know the Gira System 3000?
Thanks very much for your experience and advice!

Here are the requirements:
- Wired switches
- Central switch for scenes
- Control via app / possibly also remotely
- Wind sensor is not necessary; I would prefer to control that remotely if needed. At work, this is handled with KNX, but it’s rather unsatisfactory (the shutters keep going up and down, etc.)
- I’m not keen on “old-fashioned” controls like small displays or astro timers

At least, the quotes we received were in this range.I took a look at your cost breakdown. Now I understand where your prices for KNX come from. The electrician from Heinz von Heiden (Heinz von Heiden?!) charges a hefty 91 euros gross for a Hue Bridge and nearly 100 euros gross per meter for Hue Light Strips. With margins like that, it’s no surprise that KNX quotes are extremely expensive. I think @untergasse43 hits the nail on the head here:untergasse43 schrieb:
Thanks. "What things actually cost" in reality is quite different from the colorful prefabricated house catalog world with companies’ lumped prices.Strahleman schrieb:

I think @untergasse43 hits the nail on the head: It should be obvious that you can’t get the kind of bargain prices from online deal sites like mydealz when going through a local electrician. And no, sorry. The local electricians from MyHammer sometimes quoted even higher prices. It’s less about the prices here and more about the general availability of any electrician at all to come to the house. They are permanently fully booked.

Alessandro20 Apr 2021 08:12First, you need to find an electrician who really knows how to work with KNX! Unfortunately, I have found that about 50% of electricians have hardly any knowledge, even though they advertise KNX installations. If you, as a homeowner, have no experience with this subject, the electrician can easily convince you that many things (allegedly) are not possible…

Yes, everything mentioned is definitely possible, even a bit more, since it's simply included with KNX, at a similar budget.
But to each their own.If you do it yourself, it can work. Through an electrician --> no chance!
Just the documentation (which electricians are required to provide) of the installation and commissioning can cost a considerable amount of money, depending on the house and effort.
Interesting. Our electrician advised against a wireless solution and wants to sell us KNX instead. We only want to be able to control the blinds "smartly" and maybe add lighting control at some point. The electrician’s argument in favor of KNX is that it is manufacturer-independent and the costs are almost the same compared to a wireless system (e.g., Gira eNet). Programming "would not be a problem" and he would of course handle it. References? No idea.
I still don’t understand the added value of KNX if you just want to centrally control your blinds and possibly later the lighting, perhaps using a timer (including presence simulation).
Wind and sun sensors for the venetian blinds work perfectly fine with wireless systems anyway...
