ᐅ Exterior blinds for shading during summer

Hello everyone,

who here has exterior blinds and what has your experience been like? Our living room will face south, so I am naturally concerned about heat protection in the summer. We are now considering using exterior blinds instead of roller shutters as a shading solution. How wind-sensitive are these on windows about 1 meter (3 feet) wide? What about security against break-ins? Do they provide significantly better sun protection than roller shutters while still allowing an unobstructed view of the garden?

Of course, venetian blinds are more practical than roller shutters if you don’t want to sit in complete darkness during the summer. I wouldn’t want to go without them again.
Our living room also faces a full south side towards the garden. They usually withstand the wind well, but it naturally depends on the conditions. In exposed locations, you might need to be careful, but your window installer will advise you on that.

When it comes to burglary protection, there is little difference between the two. Neither roller shutters nor venetian blinds provide any real security.

Both can be on the ground within 3 seconds if quick action is needed.

I don't think so; I’m actually looking forward to a lot of sunshine in the living room (on the south side). We will have roller shutters, but if anything, they will only be lowered at night.

Yes, that's correct, it takes 7-12 seconds depending on the type of roller shutter.
