Good evening everyone,

We are currently planning the exterior design of our house and would appreciate advice from those with building experience 🙂

How did you approach the color scheme for the outside? For example, the roof tile color, window frames, front door, garage door, and so on?

There is always the option to choose RAL colors... Has anyone done this, or how did you coordinate your colors?

(PS: Our house will be white, and the tiles/windows/front door, etc., will be in a dark gray/light black tone...)

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Kind regards

What can you say? You just have to get samples and carefully coordinate them with each other. We went three times with our brick samples to the window manufacturer and the front door/garage door supplier (and countless times to various tile installers/suppliers). We don’t have roof tiles, but we do have color-contrasted parts of the facade. It’s all possible, but it takes time and effort.

Walk through residential areas and take photos of houses you like.
After around 100 houses, you might find that there are no black, anthracite, or white houses in your pictures, simply because 95% of them look like that.
Observing helps develop your taste.

So, with this first approach, it already sounds very mainstream. 🙄

So we started with the windows, selecting the color tone and then choosing the matching door, parapet, rainwater downpipes, garage door, fence, etc.

In the end, we opted for signal black because we were tired of anthracite.

However, keep in mind that consistently applying this color tone throughout will significantly increase the cost if it deviates from the mainstream (especially white/anthracite).

I would avoid painting the facade white for that very reason... a slight gray tint can also work... dark roof, medium gray windows, and the facade significantly lighter... 😎
