Hi,
How noticeable is the difference in thickness of the luxury vinyl flooring between 6.5mm (0.26 inches) and 9.3mm (0.37 inches) when used with underfloor heating?
For example, if I take Haro floors here, the thermal resistance is between 0.046 and 0.063 m²K/W. These are all theoretical values, but would the difference actually be noticeable?

It is more important to avoid any air gap between the subfloor and the covering, so adhesive installation is necessary. Everything else is then irrelevant.

We are actually planning to install the flooring as a floating floor because we want the impact sound insulation and don’t want to feel like walking directly on the screed 😉

You won’t notice any difference between the two flooring methods.
Apart from that, you’ll hardly notice any difference between glued down and floating installation—except that floating floors always sound somewhat hollow and the walking noise is higher. In my opinion, floating installation is only a makeshift solution.

I am not familiar with these thin design floors, but we have parquet flooring about 14mm (0.55 inches) thick, which wears very well even when installed as a floating floor. At least with parquet, I would do it the same way again because the glued-down floors I have experienced felt too "hard" for my liking.

With underfloor heating, the air between the heating elements should act as an insulator. Impact sound insulation is important. Therefore, the best solution is to glue down the design floor.
