since I am not an expert in this field and want to avoid making mistakes, I would like to know your opinion.
We have purchased a newly built house from a developer, and currently the electrician is working on the property. A high-voltage connection is planned for the garage. However, an electric or hybrid car is not planned within the next 1-2 years. Does it make sense to have a wall box installed right away because of the current incentives? At least that is what the electrician suggested.
Or is just running the cable enough for now (is there any funding for that)? How would you proceed?

As far as I know, wallboxes have their own internal meters. Still, our grid operator (Westnetz) requires an additional meter and says the internal one isn’t sufficient. I’m confused by this and inclined to ignore it rather than spend 1200 EUR on a big question mark.

Yes @moHouse, you are right. But that’s exactly what I’m concerned about. Initially, I was encouraged (over the phone) to install the free eMobility connection right away, only to find out later that I would definitely need an additional meter for it. Without that, the connection is useless to me because I wouldn’t be allowed to operate a wallbox later on...

- Should I take the free connection from Westnetz and invest about €1,200 (around $1,300) for a larger distribution cabinet to be “future-proof,” or
- Pay the normal fee for the connection (about €700-800, roughly $750-$875) to stay independent and risk having to upgrade the meter cabinet later anyway to install a meter for wallbox tariff usage?

Do you mean the standard electrical connection for the house? Or is that the extra charge you pay if you indicate the installation of a wallbox when applying for the house connection? That seems quite high to me.
I think you should just apply for a regular construction power supply and mention that you will also be using a wallbox later on.
It probably won’t cost any extra.
If you eventually want your own meter, you can still calculate whether it’s worth it then.
