ᐅ Tiled shower floor – sooner or later problems caused by the silicone seal?

Hello everyone,

If I want to tile the floor of my shower area, won’t I sooner or later (likely after more than 10 years) encounter problems at the following spot:
the silicone joint between the outer floor tile and the first vertical wall tile next to it? This joint will surely be filled with silicone or acrylic, and sooner or later there will be a leak there. Then water will run—without me noticing much—under the tiles while showering.

Isn’t this a major drawback of tiled shower areas?

Thanks and best regards,

You should have installed the drywall partition so that it aligns with the shower tray 😉
You can also see this on your plan.
It could only have been made thicker... since it’s the riser shaft for the other apartments, but then it would be even wider. What risks are there with the current setup? Sure, it’s not the most visually appealing, but it serves as a shelf and space for the shower door. Maybe an extra joint would help...

In what way? Because of the extension or the floor storage? It wasn’t possible otherwise since the apartment was already in the shell stage and the riser shaft is located here. The shower was originally where the toilet is now, which means even more wasted space. Of course, I’m also bothered by this fragmentation, but that’s where the door will go.

The rest looks quite nice.
But is the washbasin meant to be installed like that? Instead of the more or less useless corner in front of the window, I would extend the vanity countertop there. The actual sink can stay where it is.

And then? I don’t think you can easily find a shower tray measuring 103-105*100. The solution would clearly be tiling.

But 100*105. Aside from that, the partition wall is completely off. It’s just a block.

Yes, we're still considering that. Great idea!
@icandoit The partition wall has to be there because it is a riser shaft for the other apartments.

Because the pipes are located there. All good!

However, that will make it tight to open the window. 😉

A pentagonal shower, 1 * 1 m (3.3 * 3.3 ft), where the toilet is now, would have looked good with the bathtub, and the toilet could then be where the shower is.

But it’s too late now. The tile strip can be lived with.
