Hello everyone, our floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows have external roller shutters. They work quite well to keep out the heat in summer, but we are now considering adding internal blinds. The idea is to be able to reduce sunlight during strong winter sun without making the room completely dark. Does anyone have experience with this?

Is it even possible to install blinds on the large windows when there is a roller shutter box above? Do you think mounting them inside the window frame is feasible – probably not, right? Because of the thickness of the blind slats.

What do you think about wooden blinds? I recently saw an advertisement online, and they looked really nice.

Thanks a lot and best regards

You just shouldn’t lower the blinds too much during winter. Only where the sun really causes discomfort.

That’s not the point, we definitely want blinds.
There is a glass-covered terrace under the windows – the glass panels sometimes cause glare when sitting at the dining table. That’s also why we want blinds.

For example, Rollo Rieper offers interior blinds that can be adjusted with a rotary knob, so you don’t have to deal with annoying cords. We have two of these in the bathroom, and I really like them. Maybe they will suit your needs. However, similar products are probably available from other manufacturers as well.

This is very easy with these plastic clips… we have them on all our windows, including the patio doors. For larger windows, you might want to use more than two clips.

That looks really great, thanks. But doesn’t that damage the window seal over time?
