ᐅ Structural engineer needed for preliminary assessment of load-bearing capacity

We purchased a plot of land with an existing basement last year. (The prefabricated house that was there was removed after a fire.)
The basement is in good condition, and we want to build on top of it again.
All static documentation for the basement and foundation is available and has been digitized as PDFs.

We are now primarily wondering whether the load-bearing capacity of the basement and foundation in principle would be suitable for a monolithic 1.5-story solid masonry house (Poroton or similar).

Is there a structural engineer or building engineer here who could take a look? Naturally, payment can be arranged if it requires significant effort.

I truly believe it makes a lot of sense to ask the structural engineer who has done the calculations so far. Of course, only if they are still available. The picture looks familiar to me (the "emergency roof truss" above the basement). Where could I have seen that before?

Not you – the structural engineer can be found locally and will need to assess the site in person.

I’m surprised that you’re still asking as if nothing has happened yet – I was actually expecting your topping-out ceremony any minute now in the house pictures thread!

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll try to get in touch with the original structural engineer.
It’s possible you saw the image a few months ago in another thread where the basic purchase decision was discussed 🙂

Okay— yes, the local engineer wants about €400 (approximately $430) for that. That seems high to us, since specialists from various timber frame suppliers gave their approval of the load-bearing capacity after just a few minutes of reviewing the plans. But maybe that’s just because timber framing is considerably more straightforward…

No one responded back then – but that’s okay, since we have now received the original structural engineering documents…. A topping-out ceremony would be something 😀 Currently, the workload in all areas is really critical. Just the authorities took almost 4 months to provide us with the documents.
The suppliers we are interested in right now could offer us a site installation date no earlier than autumn or spring 2022.
