Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery
Current outdoor temperature 6°C (43°F)
Heating energy consumption including hot water 35 kWh
Electricity consumption 9 kWh
COP 3.88

Here, it is still much too warm, but the next 14 days will cost a fortune. I expect an average of 40 to 50 kWh daily just for heating. Meanwhile, the neighbor with pellets is just laughing...

It is really small, only 2 tons. He doesn't need more. A pellet heating system is significantly more efficient than a heat pump in a new build, but requires a somewhat higher initial investment. However, I would choose the same option next time as well.

Why did I expect a comment like that? It was an open invitation 😀. But you can also just Google it— even with a “perfectly” configured heat pump, a pellet system tends to run a bit cheaper/more efficiently during operation (without additional investment).
