For a durable wooden decking made from local materials, you can find the company "Dauerholz" online.
The wood is said to be impregnated with stearin (?) – which makes it last longer.
There are some negative reviews in other forums, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the material is no good. I would appreciate any methods to extend the lifespan of local woods.

Does anyone know this … or an alternative? (I am concerned about environmental sustainability)

Oh, this is quite interesting. I'll follow along.

Use Nordic larch, slow-grown. Treat it with Olassy MS from Relius. Then you will have long-lasting peace of mind.

Thermally modified wood. Whether ash, pine, or any other type. Local wood that will outlast you (and me) in the garden. Only heat treated, otherwise completely natural.

... surface-treated wood .... That helps a bit, but not “really.” This is the result of my many years of – of course subjective – experience.
I do this when I can’t find anything else (or don’t want to pay :confused 🙂.

Thermo wood is not yet in my experience toolkit.
Thanks for the tip. (I had – mistakenly – noted that thermo wood is saturated with plastic, but that seems to be a different method).
I’m surprised that heating would help, but you never stop learning (fortunately 🤨).

My brother has had thermo ash on his terrace for about 5 years. Apart from some color changes, there is no visible wear... Of course, long-term performance is a different matter.

I installed grade B pine on my terrace about 20 years ago. The exposed areas are now definitely worn out, and I will probably need to replace them this summer.
