I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

At the end of the year, a brief look back at the summer from our 60 sqm (650 sq ft) garden.
If anyone is interested in how we designed it, I can also share the layout and photos showing the development process. It measures 6 m (20 ft) wide by 10 m (33 ft) long.
This year, I tried growing tomatoes in containers, but it unfortunately wasn’t worthwhile. However, they made quite an impression on the neighbors, lol.
From now on, I’ll stick to three snack tomatoes under the roof overhang.
The Jerusalem artichoke (from one tuber of the ‘Top Star’ variety) grew in the leased vegetable garden. Beautiful, but not suitable for the small garden. I still have tubers of other varieties waiting to be eaten in containers.
Over six years, the garden planting has also changed somewhat on its own in a few places, or rather, the voles have helped with that. By the way, voles cannot read missing price tags. They leave the scrawny wild lilac alone. But 2021 means new year, new luck.
Best regards ☁️ Wolke

I would be interested in seeing the sketch!
Our tomatoes always grow successfully in containers. What is the orientation of your garden?

This year, we grew almost everything in the garden bed, but some were still in pots. However, the splitting issue occurred with all varieties, including those in the garden bed. It’s good to know that this seemed to be the case for everyone this year. We always plant different varieties, and we obtained the seeds from a tomato breeder. We just ate the tomatoes quickly since they never last long with us anyway, so that wasn’t a problem.

Our tomatoes always do well in containers. What is the orientation of your garden? Yes, gladly. I will work on it in the next few days.
It really depended a lot on the variety. The garden faces southeast.
The containers were just a temporary solution for 2020 because we couldn’t prepare the planting bed, there was no water in the vegetable garden, and then we brought them home. Unfortunately, the yield was much lower than the same varieties grown in the established vegetable bed.
