I am interested in assessments regarding the feasibility of relocating the sink and toilet in the renovation of an interior, windowless bathroom of approximately 4 m² (43 sq ft). Additionally, I would like to know about the installation of a walk-in shower that is level with the floor (ideally barrier-free) and a rough estimate of the potential cost range for this project.

Best regards

Bathroom: Toilet, sink, mirror, and bathtub with striped glass shower.

Showerhead on adjustable rail with hose in a white tiled bathroom.

Small bathroom: Toilet with cistern, sink, two water meters on the wall.

Sink with chrome faucet, visible drain pipes, and black waste bin on tiled floor.

White radiator with thermostat on tiled wall, exposed pipes on the floor.

You should definitely upload an up-to-date floor plan, including doors, windows, and plumbing routes. That could be a good starting point. You also need to be aware that basically everything will have to be removed, essentially a gut renovation, followed by new plumbing and electrical systems. The choice of faucet or washbasin will not be a major cost factor in this context.

Only with a new plan can a price be determined; before that, any estimate is just speculation, unless you are willing to accept a rough price range of between 5,000 and 15,000 (currency), depending on the specific contractors involved.

Thank you very much for the initial response. 🙂

Unfortunately, there is only a general floor plan available and no detailed drawing of the bathroom or the other rooms.

The bathroom is listed as approximately 3.44 square meters (about 37 square feet). However, the room dimensions have already proven to be incorrect during the kitchen renovation. According to the data sheet, the bathroom should measure about 1.81 m (5 feet 11 inches) by about 1.91 m (6 feet 3 inches). Yet, the bathtub alone measures 1.97 m (6 feet 6 inches) by my own measurement.

I would probably ask a building services specialist for a dimensioned drawing, or should I measure everything myself completely?

If I plan to renovate (my) bathroom, I would have already created this drawing myself. And yes, measured it myself as well.

Where exactly do you envision the new toilet? You don’t really have many options.

Ideally, a walk-in shower.

Water flows down, not up. If you’re lucky, the tub sits directly on the floor without a screed, then a level (curb-free) shower would be possible.

Price ranges from… to… depends on what you choose and who will do the work.

Overall, the bathroom leaves a very good impression – whether you really need to knock it all out is something to consider... I would just refresh it with a stylish vanity, mirror, better lighting, and possibly some cladding. For lighting, a high or frosted glass panel in the door could be an option.

Graph paper is your friend… 😀 Nobody needs any 3-D animations, etc. It’s about measurements, distances, clearances, and openings.
If you make a few copies of your drawing, you can keep moving things around and sketching again and again.

Or apps. Everything works 🙂 Based on the photos, I find it difficult to suggest improvements.
