Hello, we are planning to build a passive house and would like to integrate a central vacuum system.
We are considering the company Schlauchvec from Cyclovec, as their hose is advertised to be retracted directly into the wall, so you don't have to carry a separate hose around.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone already have such a system?
Or is there another company that also offers a system where the hose can be retracted?
Is there a central place where you can get information about the various companies offering central vacuum systems?
Are there no well-known companies like Bosch, Siemens, or Miele that offer central vacuum systems?
Our house will be built with a basement, so the system can be installed there.

Hello

We are currently building a new house and also want to integrate a central vacuum system (CVS). We requested a quote for the Schlauchvec system. Standard systems were priced between €1200 and €1600 (approximately $1300 to $1750) excluding installation. It is supposedly simple enough that you can either a) install it yourself or b) give the installer who is already working on the new build a little extra to install the tubing as well.

What I did was contact 7-8 companies and asked them for a quote based on our floor plan. From my research, there is no single supplier that offers all brands. I also noticed that the usual suspects like Miele, Siemens, etc., tend to focus on their standard products.

.. I can only recommend that.

... I would advise against that ...

Then give the questioner reasons why you advise against it, otherwise they won’t be able to understand your opinion. 😉

For vacuuming inside the house, you need a long hose. You will definitely twist and turn this hose, and when it is then retracted by the system, it can cause problems and eventually lead to repairs. Also, such a long hose requires a lot of space to be hidden out of sight, so you should plan for a small storage room to keep the hose and other accessories.
