Hello,
we would like to install an outdoor wall light next to our front door (visible from the street) and additional outdoor wall lights on the terrace at the back of the house.
We are not sure whether to choose up/down lighting or direct lighting (or maybe use different solutions for the different areas).
Direct lighting may illuminate more, but it could also cause glare and become annoying, for example when sitting on the terrace facing that direction.
Perhaps an adjustable up/down light would be better (e.g., IP44 slat, just to give you an idea).
What are your experiences?
Thank you in advance!

I have the Philips Tuar on the terrace side and a Steinel L22 at the entrance.
I spent a long time dealing with this topic and never really took action. Then while browsing, I spontaneously saw and ordered the ones mentioned above. Thanks for the tip!I like the Philips Tuar.
Would you say the brightness is sufficient, even when sitting outside in the dark and having something to eat, for example?

We have these 6 units for the entrance, terrace, garage, etc.

Osram Noxlite advantage: they can be controlled both by motion sensor and by switch. Looks great!
A motion sensor is definitely useful.
Is it possible to turn the light on independently of the motion sensor, for example if I want the light on constantly outside but don’t want to stay within the sensor’s range all the time?
And how does the switching between motion sensor mode and manual control work?
P.S. I probably wouldn’t need the motion sensor on the terrace very often, since I have switches inside the house by the terrace doors to simply turn the lights on and off.
