Hello everyone,

We recently visited the construction site of our general contractor. The house had gray windows on the outside, and my husband was immediately impressed.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had to wait a bit before entering the house, and that’s when I noticed that the window handles were white. Then I looked at the windows from the inside – also white. I didn’t like that. For me, both the outside and inside being gray would not be an option.

It seems like almost every new build has gray windows these days. Is gray the new white now, or just a trend, and will the classic white windows make a comeback?

I like white, my husband prefers gray...

What did you decide on?

Also white on white, although I am considering forest green trim, as it could go well with our matching roof tiles.

In the past, brick façades were common, and white window frames were acceptable.
Now, with most budgets focusing on white plastered exteriors, home builders tend to offer different colors to create contrast. What is included or possible within your budget varies but should inform your impression.
What you choose is up to you. Regarding the fashion discussion: please, let’s not go over it again.
Inside, windows are usually white because many people want to avoid a dark interior.

I admit I followed the trend here: anthracite gray windows inside and out. The leading options were from Solarlux – the other windows matched that color. It contrasts nicely with the wood – both inside and outside.

This color mix — white on the inside and anthracite on the outside — was a problem for us. You can see the outer frames from the inside as well... Every time a window is open, you notice the dark color. We decided to go all white. However, we are still struggling with the facade color :-P
