ᐅ Handleless kitchen fronts, good quality and affordable – which manufacturer?

Hello everyone,

we are currently looking into the kitchen for our newly built single-family home. After the first visits to suppliers (2 large chains and 1 small studio), the general conclusion is: a frustrating black box with no price transparency – the estimates were often well above the stated budget, and none of the appointments included a written quote to prevent easy comparison.

My question is: which provider/manufacturer would you consider for the following requirements:

Kitchen layout: G-shaped kitchen, no wall cabinets
Design: handleless kitchen
Kitchen length: just under 11m (36 feet), all base cabinets except for 2 tall cabinets for fridge-freezer combo and oven + microwave
Worktop height: 90cm (35 inches)
Worktop: integrated into window frame, replacing the windowsill. Option 1: laminate, thickness approx. 25mm (1 inch). Option 2: engineered stone, thickness approx. 25mm (1 inch).
Front price category: PG 3 or PG 4, real matte lacquer
Splashback: matte glass

Target price would be under €6,500 (including sink and faucet combined about €400 online) and laminate worktop, without appliances, including delivery and installation (kitchen and externally sourced appliances), so roughly €600 (about $660) per meter.

Current quote for electrical appliances: €5,180 gross including delivery to curbside.

Do you think this is achievable, or do we need to lower our requirements (fronts price group / appliances) to stay under €12,000? At Ikea, we would be around €3,500 plus assembly without appliances, but their selection of handleless fronts does not suit us.

Thank you very much for your advice.

Yes, that’s the one I meant.
It’s only available in a width of 60cm (24 inches).

You have already ruled out IKEA – probably a sensible decision...
We are currently struggling with assembling the handleless "Metod" system; with a solid wood countertop, it looks quite nice.
But: it is definitely a challenge. It started with the wrong delivery time, then parts that don’t fit together, too many/too few components, no proper overall assembly instructions, and customer service unavailable...
Hopefully, we will manage to complete it in the end. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Thanks for the tip, Tolentino, Pagoni!

It's just strange that they are designed for "fridge/freezers".... At the same time, it seems that the corner installation is not possible with them. Only the 37 cm (15 inches) models probably fit in the corner..., if they fit at all.

To be honest, I have completely ruled out IKEA so far..., but now I will at least take a closer look.

With "handleless," the Metod cabinet itself isn’t different, right? It’s just a different front, specifically handleless.

It takes effort and you have to put in the work... hence the price difference.

"Complete assembly instructions"

Those don’t exist because the kitchen is made up of a combination of individually selected parts. You need to take your time on site, ask questions, and depending on your skills, sometimes have certain steps done by others. You alone are responsible, which can be both a curse and a blessing. I prefer it that way.
Compared to other furniture stores, I have experienced friendlier and more helpful staff at IKEA from various locations, and the kitchen department always had expert knowledge about their products.
So I can’t confirm your impression, but I understand that it can be frustrating in some cases... but where isn’t it?
And... you have to be motivated for such a self-responsible project. We went there very often and tinkered a lot. I wouldn’t want to do it alone just on the computer.

At the same time, corner installations don’t seem possible with them. The only corner option seems to be the 37cm (15 inches) wide units, if they even fit.

Honestly, I had completely excluded IKEA until now... but I’ll definitely take a closer look.

You should go on site and ask about these things; over time you learn. I’m sitting in my stylish kitchen right now, but you should be aware that the lower price shifts some work and responsibility onto the buyer—or, as we do it, you find a suitable handyman to handle the fine adjustments during assembly.

Yesterday, I completed the fourth built-in furniture unit using IKEA Metod in our house. Ironically, we didn’t use it for the kitchen, but it works very well for various furniture pieces where you want to create reasonably high-quality storage. There are many tips and tricks, and this allows the cabinet boxes to be combined very flexibly. (For example, for the shelf, the standard 80cm (31 inch) tall cabinet boxes for the lower section were too low for me, so here the lower row consists of wall cabinets with a height of 100cm (39 inches). The previously mentioned wall cabinet with a height of 40cm (16 inches) I used as a seat in our hallway wardrobe.)

Very cool. Did you build everything yourself?
