Hello.
Our contractor said that the screed will be installed now. After 3 days, tiles are supposed to be laid on the still wet screed in the areas where the technical equipment is located. That way, the heating engineer and electrician could continue working and install the gas boiler, hot water storage tank, and controlled ventilation system. So far, the tilers have advised against this. One of them said it is not necessary because it is only about starting the screed drying program early, and for that, only the wall-mounted gas boiler is needed. The 300L (80 gallon) hot water storage tank can be placed on the floor later, after the screed drying program has finished.

The tiler’s main concern is the tile laying pattern, since we will use the same tiles in the utility room as in the kitchen, living room, dining area, and hallway.

Do you have any opinions on this?

The installation pattern can also be determined and planned in advance, but three days (without a drying program) seems far too short for the installation. In our case, the gas boiler was first mounted, then drying took place, and later on the hot water tank was installed. (By the way, the ventilation system is usually mounted on the wall.)

Yes, that is correct. The screed drying process can also be skipped if needed.

Our tiler said back then, either let the screed dry thoroughly or install it completely wet...

I would have the tiles laid in that section beforehand. It’s better that way than trying to patch around the hot water tank afterward. Nobody will want to dismantle it for that later!

It will simply be delivered and connected only when the time is right. There is no need for anyone to do any temporary or makeshift work.

We have only just received our tiles and technical equipment after 6 weeks of screed drying (3 weeks left as-is and 3 weeks heated). We used a portable heater during this time. However, we also have a heat pump.
