which lasts longer and stays looking good longer? Brick cladding or white render?
We are unsure whether to choose brick cladding or white render. Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks for your advice

Which lasts longer and maintains its appearance better? Brick cladding or white plaster?

Hello,
my parents have a yellow (rough-textured) brick on their house. The house was built in 1981 and still looks very good.
One street away, a house was built at the same time with white, smooth bricks. The owners have since painted the white brick because after a few years it didn’t look very nice anymore.
I would love to build my house with bricks, but in Bavaria that absolutely doesn’t fit the local architectural style.

Hello,

What other pros and cons are there?

Same Price???
I have received house offers with additional costs ranging from 7,000 to 17,000 for brick cladding instead of plaster.
If you disregard the extra maintenance every 10 years for plaster (repainting), then there is also the question of style trends: certain bricks go out of fashion, just think of the yellow bricks from the 1970s... these houses are hard to sell. Then there are the cheaper options, which (in my opinion) all look cheap.
If someone wants a solid standard, is building to finally be finished, and does not have very high demands for the facade, the extra cost for brick cladding is reasonable and fair.
Personally, I live in a neighborhood with white plastered row houses. Everything looks friendly, even on cloudy and overcast days, and the walls appear bright.
In the north, it can look quite dull when the trees have no leaves and all the houses are clad in this dark dull red brick...
