Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

A quick update from us. The end is slowly coming into view...

Over the weekend, we were able to complete the perimeter insulation of the basement. On Monday and Tuesday, compaction was carried out using recycled material. Today, we finally started the masonry work.

Three construction workers working on a red brick facade in front of a window, repairing masonry.

Several construction workers on scaffolding working on a red brick facade of a house; bucket ready.

Yesterday, they finished pointing the exterior of our house. I’m curious to see how it looks when it’s dry, as the sample joint appeared noticeably lighter.
In addition, the front door and windows were adjusted and finalized.
The tiler is still working, but the bathroom seems to be basically finished.
There are more photos on the blog, but I’ve decided to post pictures of the bathroom only once everything is complete, including the vanity and all the details.

I really like the brickwork! Beautiful house!

However, the scaffolding is a disaster. It's a shame you keep seeing this on construction sites.

The exterior of the house has now been grouted.
What do you mean by "grouted"?
What kind of material has been applied on the outside? It looks like roofing felt.
And what is its purpose?

I'm only familiar with the drainage method (which collects and directs water further down).

... now I’ve looked a bit longer and understood:
The "roofing felt" is just there to catch the falling mortar. The brick joints are what actually get grouted...

Yes, the color of the joint (light or dark) makes a big difference. I know this from a natural stone house that was newly re-grouted.
Afterwards, it looked like a "new" house.
