Since there are no stupid questions, I'll just ask. 🙂 Today we unexpectedly received applications for the installation of gas/electric connections. They thanked us for our inquiry! 😕 We did not make any request! 😕 Is it necessary to have the connections installed by the local utility company (Stadtwerke Herne), or are there other options?

So, I had a TAE socket installed by the telecom company in the utility room.

A quick question to add. If I don't want to have a gas connection installed because I use alternative energy, do I still have to have it installed, or can I just say "I only want/need electricity"?

Uhhm, no one will force you to install a gas connection. Unless something like that is specified in the building permit / planning permission, which I find hard to imagine.

No, it’s not mentioned there. But there are so many great options, so I’m just asking.
There was once a discussion about including in the development plan a requirement to generate a significant percentage of the energy for a new building from photovoltaic systems. So I wouldn’t have been surprised.

Zoning plans sometimes include restrictive regulations that can quite legitimately surprise an average citizen. Often, these are influenced by lobbying interests. Whether one should actually comply with them in an individual case depends on the specific requirements and necessities of the individual construction project.

Best regards

In the neighboring town, when you buy a building plot, you receive a list of four plants, of which at least one must be planted over a specified area in square meters (sqm). That seems minimal compared to the possibility of being forced to install photovoltaic panels. 🙂
