Hello dear forum members,

Our house construction plans were significantly disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, but you have to accept the trade-offs when pursuing something important. The good thing is we had enough time to calculate all the options and actually decided to give up our original plan of a gas boiler plus solar thermal system, as a heat pump combined with solar panels turns out to be more cost-effective over 20 years.

The current plan is:
Solid construction house, 148m2 (Kalksandstein – a type of calcium silicate brick – up to the roof ridge plus facing brick)
Air-source heat pump (Junkers Compress 7400)
Photovoltaic system plus battery storage (no provider chosen yet)

Our builder recently received an offer from Senec that includes a cloud tariff. It sounds great on paper, but both I and our builder are somewhat skeptical and are currently researching and calculating further. Unfortunately, I’ve also found contradictory information online.

Is the cloud system worthwhile, or is the classic system with feed-in tariff better?
What do you think? What are your experiences with electricity cloud systems?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I also believe the law could have been better designed to more effectively achieve the climate targets. I share this criticism. I disagree with the way the energy levy is implemented, as it inevitably leads to higher electricity prices – just search for "Renewable Energy Act paradox" to find a video that clearly explains this. There are better and different ways to handle this, and you can see the influence of lobbying by large energy companies in the legislation.

I definitely do not agree with claiming a subsidy to personally make a higher profit and then calling those who raise objections as “putting obstacles in the way” or “being unreasonable.”

My phrase "putting stones in the way" might have been poorly chosen. I wasn't referring to maximizing profit from the subsidy, but rather to how complex the whole topic is.

I need to add one more thing, then I’m done. I’m not the type of person to try to manipulate the system to get more subsidies or anything like that. I really don’t like that. What bothers me is that there is even the possibility to make different profits with the same product. To me, this unequal treatment is a loophole in the law and/or poorly designed. It’s the same with the 10 kWp (kilowatt peak) issue. As someone with a large roof, I’m effectively "penalized" or placed at a disadvantage if I fully utilize it.

The same goes for the 10 kWp (kilowatt-peak) limit. Because of it, I, having a large roof, am basically “penalized” or disadvantaged if I fully utilize the space.

That’s exactly how it is.
That’s why you have to wait 12 months.

Hello esteemed forum, I requested a preliminary quote yesterday from a local electrician who told me he would charge about €1700 per kWp for a 9.9 kWp system plus a lithium-ion battery storage and an “intelligent control” for the heat pump. I think this is a significantly better rate than the other offer...
This just shows once again that it’s probably better to look around more locally and not only with the big providers.

How large would the attic/storage space be?
