Good day.

We want to install a 3m (10 feet) wide hanging sliding door in the living room. Now the question is whether it should be divided into two or three sections. The general contractor said that a two-section door might be difficult to open because it involves moving a heavier weight. What are your experiences with this?

This is the ring beam or, in some parts, initially a lintel plus ring beam, so yes, it's concreted. We have to apply 12cm (5 inches) of insulation on top of that. The roller shutter boxes will be installed directly below, together with the windows. Thanks for the compliments.

Interesting. Do you split the 5-meter (16.4 feet) elements into two equal parts (i.e., 2.5 meters / 8.2 feet each)? How tall are the windows?

Yes, exactly half and half with 2.5m (8 feet) sections each.... We have a large column between the two 5-meter (16 feet) elements. The panels will be positioned so that the area around the column is open when both tall cabinets are open, meaning one panel slides to the left and the other to the right from the inside view.... Since we have the same flooring (tiles) on the terrace as in the main living area, in summer this really triples our already spacious room.... The feeling of space was important to us, and since we spend a lot of time outside in summer anyway, with the lift-and-slide elements being almost barrier-free, it’s fantastic for us.
The height is about 2.5m (8 feet) plus a 25cm (10 inches) roller shutter box. The window installer was here yesterday to take measurements :-P

Sounds really great! I’m looking forward to photos when everything is finished.
