Good day.
We want to install a 3m (10 feet) wide hanging sliding door in the living room. Now the question is whether it should be divided into two or three sections. The general contractor said that a two-section door might be difficult to open because it involves moving a heavier weight. What are your experiences with this?

Three meters (10 feet) wide, do you really mean a sliding door between two rooms (running in front of the wall), or is it more likely a parallel sliding-tilt (patio) door?

The second one So, a PSK with three sections. And you would rather go through the middle third than through the left or right half?
What is the reasoning behind choosing a PSK instead of a lift-and-slide, folding sliding door, or even an outward-opening casement?

So the tilt-and-slide door is three-part then. And you’d rather go through the middle third than through the left or right half?
What’s the reasoning behind choosing a tilt-and-slide door instead of a lift-and-slide or folding door (or even outward-opening casement windows)? Outward or inward opening doors take up space. The terrace is about 12m² (130 sq ft) and covered, so we didn’t want doors that open outward. The same applies to the living room, which is 28m² (300 sq ft). The question with a 3m (10 ft) width and two panels is whether it’s easy to open “just” those two parts or if it’s better to make it three parts.
Silly question: What’s the difference between a lift-and-slide door and a tilt-and-slide door?
