ᐅ EIFS dark color unevenness issues?

Hello everyone,

Is the result (see photos) really acceptable? What criteria are used for evaluation?

About four weeks ago, the façade work was carried out. External thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) with polystyrene insulation, fine-grain colored render, followed by two coats for "evening out," installed as a complete system by a professional company. However, the result is very uneven.

The specialist company rejects the defects, stating that this is normal for dark colors and that the work is done manually, not by machine.

To us, it still looks bad and incorrect. Every wall looks like this, regardless of the time of day. But is this actually a defect?

Thanks in advance!

Additionally, it is important to report the defect in writing and then formally notify the delay or default. Do you know how to do this? Otherwise, you can also contact me privately.

Best regards, Jann

He is right about that. Many existing color pigments in saturated tones can cause issues with painting. By mentioning "manual work," he probably means the brush/roller/paintbrush applying the paint in overlapping strokes, which leads to a different, more noticeable saturation where multiple paint layers overlap.

I personally had this problem with a red wall (pure color).

It would be interesting to know if the builder, architect, or whoever decided or ordered that the house should be painted gray—specifically in a saturated gray—warned you about this.

Also, whether the contractor was just executing the work or acting in an advisory role. To me, it’s obvious that this is visible. A professional should realize this and give a warning about this combination.

I assume it is hardly noticeable on single-story walls.

I generally dislike the style of the house itself, but I can understand that here, three major problematic factors (color, height, and a windowless wall) are at least one too many. I tend to be an outlier and a nonconformist myself, but even this is too much for me.

I don’t think there is anyone in this forum as conservative as you.

You don’t really know me.

But the attentive reader does.
