Hello,

Apparently, I have desires that at least I can’t quite translate into a proper plan ops:

My bathroom on the ground floor has the party wall on the left side. This wall must not be channeled! Therefore, if any elements are planned there, they must be incorporated with a suitable pre-wall system.

My wishes: Freestanding bathtub approximately 170–175 x 75cm (67–69 x 30 inches), walk-in shower preferably 100 x 140cm (39 x 55 inches) or slightly larger, a washbasin about 60cm (24 inches) wide (with countertop basin plus vanity cabinet with drawer), and a mirror cabinet above it.

A toilet with enough space to optionally add grab bars later. I would like to reserve space at least for an electric wall-mounted heater.

In the bedroom, I don’t have many wishes: a bed measuring 140 x 210cm (55 x 83 inches), a wardrobe plus a chest of drawers must fit in — that’s it. (For me, the bedroom is like a hotel room during vacation, quite “unimportant,” since I’m there just to sleep and store some clothes.)

I’m slowly getting the impression that there might not be enough space in the bathroom for the freestanding tub. Therefore, I’m willing to give up a bit of space in the bedroom if possible. The partition wall between the two rooms is still flexible, which could also help ease the tight door situation to the storage room a bit.

Does anyone have any good ideas for me?

Layout: Bathroom 9.64 m2 (104 sq ft), Bedroom 12.82 m2 (138 sq ft), Storage 3.14 m2 (34 sq ft), Hall-Wardrobe 2.98 m2 (32 sq ft), Staircase on the right.

I also find the Raul too small for a freestanding bathtub. I often see on TV that a freestanding tub is installed, but there’s no space around it for cleaning. The same applies in your case: who would crawl behind the tub to clean the corner?

Well, unfortunately, you’ve confirmed my doubts. The plot size just doesn’t allow for a wellness oasis if I want to keep everything on one level.

Unless someone still has a good idea?

There are bathtubs that are not fully built-in with masonry but only run along the wall in a straight line. Could that be an option? I would find a bedroom that only fits a 140cm (55 inch) wide bed too small.

How high/low is the window sill? Maybe you could highlight the bathtub in front of the window? Something like this (the bathtub refers to @Ysop***, right?

Large freestanding bathtub in front of window with view of trees; shelf with towels.

I had a semi-circular bathtub in mind, but this one here also looks very stylish.

@Ysop*** The bed in the bedroom is really reserved only for sleeping (overnight stays). This has been the case for the past 25 years and is not expected to change. Most of the time, I’m not at home anyway but at the office or with the rest of the family. Even for two people, 140cm (55 inches) width is sufficient should my situation change (which I very much hope).

In the worst case, I will register the upper living unit for personal use and then have double the space if significantly more people need to be accommodated (wife needing extra room ).

However, there has to be space for visitors. I still owe the family a few celebrations that I need to host . This has simply not been possible in recent years due to lack of space and no garden. Mainly outdoors on the terrace and a little green space for the grandchildren.

My planned open-plan kitchen/dining area is enough to quickly extend the table and seat a few more people. The bedroom is really of secondary importance. Fun can be had elsewhere
