Hello everyone,
I’m currently considering how the room divider could be designed—whether it should be accessible from both sides or just one. I’m thinking of a height of about 1.40 m (4 ft 7 in).
On one side, the TV would be mounted, and on the other side, there would be a bench.
My thoughts:
I’m not sure why, but I feel that with the double-sided accessible option, when I’m watching TV, I might notice more movement in the background, which could be distracting, although it would feel more open.
With the single-sided option, I might have more possibilities for design.
Does anyone have experience with this or any opinions?
Thanks and regards!
PS: I also find the example photo interesting.

pagoni202012 Jul 2020 09:43The size of the TV obviously plays a crucial role, so I would start with the 65-inch size, as well as the height of the furniture it stands on or the dimensions of the wall mounting.
From there, it largely comes down to personal preference. I would recommend checking it out in a store or furniture showroom, or trying to visualize it at home.
A 17.5cm (7-inch) deep wall unit seems quite bulky to me. It could be slimmer or have a small edge as a frame, or even a ceiling brace, depending on your taste.

Alessandro13 Jul 2020 07:47So a 1.50m (5 feet) room divider seems far too low to me, regardless of the TV.

Alessandro13 Jul 2020 08:33With a clear ceiling height of 2.70m (8 ft 10 in), I would go for a height between 1.80 and 2.00m (5 ft 11 in and 6 ft 7 in). It still feels open.
The best thing is to make a template and try it out.
An open shelf like the one @Steffi33 has is also very nice and especially practical, because it provides storage space while allowing for a lot of decoration and lighting options.

I think I wouldn’t extend it all the way to the ceiling and would stick to 1.8 meters (5 ft 11 in).
Or did you mean a shelf? (from 1.8 to 2.0 meters (5 ft 11 in to 6 ft 7 in))
