I want to properly waterproof my basement, which is made of poured concrete. A friend gave me some bitumen torch-on membranes that he had left over from his own construction project.
He said it’s fine to simply torch these directly onto the concrete floor in the basement.
However, I still have some questions that weren’t answered:
1. Should the floor be primed before applying the membrane?
2. What are the advantages of bitumen torch-on membranes with aluminum? When are they typically used?
3. Should the membranes extend and overlap slightly up the walls, or is it sufficient to cover only the floor?
Thanks!

I won’t provide any information on this, and that is for your own protection...

If you want to do it yourself, it’s better to use something like a Katja Sprint ... Start first by asking why he wants to waterproof the basement. Is it technically necessary?
