Hello everyone,

Which type of patio slabs did you choose? There are the standard ones and those with factory-applied surface protection, such as CleanTop, b.c.s., PEARL EFFECT, and others. These treatments help the slabs resist dirt and stains for longer.

Is surface protection worthwhile? Does anyone have experience or knowledge about this? Thank you very much.

We have the Delgado from kbh Beton with a so-called cleanprotect sealant. I find the surface comfortable, even to walk on. It feels somewhat "velvety" and is also easy to sweep. How it will hold up over the years, I’m not sure. The paving has only been installed for a few weeks.

The surface was not the deciding factor for us; we simply liked the paving.

However, we had quite a bit of bad luck, and now the ninth slab is being replaced because it has a crack. Our landscaping contractor believes we received a pallet that was handled a bit roughly too soon after firing, causing all the slabs to have slight damage. This probably isn’t related to the surface sealant.

I don’t think it’s necessary for a driveway but find it very pleasant for a patio area.

For driveways and patios, different slabs or paving are usually used anyway. Many patio slabs are not designed to withstand vehicle traffic.

Has anyone else dealt with this topic? Or were patio slabs chosen solely based on appearance? It seems like every manufacturer offers slabs both with and without coatings. Has anyone applied a sealant to the slabs afterward?
