In my friend’s hometown, there is only one available building plot left.
Its orientation is actually quite good.
It’s a corner lot.
Streets on the south and west sides.
The only downside (and probably the reason why the plot is still free) is that there is a farm directly across the street, about 15m (50 feet) away.
Does anyone have experience with issues like flies or similar?
We love country living. But right now, I’m not sure if it's too rural for us...
Has anyone built in a similar situation and can share their experience?
Best regards

Stoffi12320 Jun 2020 22:10I should add that a new residential development will be available in about 2 years. However, prices there will likely be over €100 per square meter (approximately $10 per square foot) compared to the current €50 per square meter (approximately $5 per square foot). The location would also be excellent, right next to the (still) open field.
You summarize it well yourself. It seems to fit. I also live in a village, and there are flies. And there are fly screens and fly strips. <That’s just village life!!>

knalltüte20 Jun 2020 22:23Hi,
There was a scientific study showing that children growing up near a farm (with dairy cows!) tend to be healthier and develop fewer allergies, especially respiratory diseases like asthma. This is said to be due to certain substances from the cows’ waste present in the dust or air.
That could be a good argument for it.
I would definitely avoid pig farming!
