immermehr17 Jun 2020 21:31Hello everyone,
our exterior wall consists of 17.5cm (7 inches) bricks plus 17cm (7 inches) external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS).
Today, the wall was built with bricks. I asked the craftsman to make an approximately 15cm (6 inches) hole for the kitchen exhaust pipe. I planned to order the Naber E-Jal 150 wall box including the THERMOBOX afterward.
Questions:
- I am a bit unsure if this is the right approach. Should we wait a bit and use core drilling later instead?
- The hole does not look perfectly round (see picture). What is the best way to seal the pipe? According to the Naber installation instructions, using PU foam is not allowed because it presses against the pipe.
- When is the best time to install this system? There will still be ETICS, plaster... How was it done in your experience?
I know it’s not common to install exhaust ventilation during new construction nowadays. We cook very intensively, so we would like to have it.
THANK YOU for your help.

Naber exhaust systems are even partially suitable for passive houses – the simpler versions also easily pass the blower door test.immermehr schrieb:

The proper and correct way would, of course, be a core drill hole and compressible sealing tape or something similar.Hello everyone
The bricklayer put a lot of effort into cutting with the angle grinder. It could have been worse.
I would suggest doing a core drilling at the end. It costs 100 euros.
The bricklayer should close it up again. But properly. Use 3 new bricks. Give him 20 euros.

Steven Hi Steven,
can I leave it as it is and later expand or adjust exactly at that spot with core drilling if needed?
