Hello again, we have just gone through the kitchen process once more. Unfortunately, you often encounter what I consider to be unprofessional sales tactics, which usually make me want to walk away immediately. Recently, at the kitchen showroom, they told me that if I didn’t decide today, the price would stay the same… that was the end of it for me, even though I might have bought from them otherwise. Or they tried to sell me the kitchen without appliances, which were priced unbelievably high. I really don’t like all the nonsense about “block pricing” or a single price for a base cabinet being around 800€ (about 870 USD), which is why I switched to Ikea for my last kitchen and, after a move, I am genuinely convinced by it. You can see right away what it costs, and it looks really nice (the sink and so on were sourced elsewhere). Nowadays, many details can be implemented affordably there; our current kitchen is truly stylish, and I picked out the appliances specifically online according to my preferences (some Siemens with a 5-year warranty…). There are reliable independent contractors for kitchen installation.

In your quote, the Miele appliances, etc., are listed separately, which already makes a good impression. The layout is usually very personal; I don’t like the stepped dishwasher, and I prefer stainless steel fridge units rather than built-in refrigerators because those are usually easier to use.

You can find some information about the “manufacturer” here; I read this book once, and it clarifies a lot. The pricing question is really hard to answer reliably because it depends on materials, cabinet fronts, drawers, and so on—and that’s exactly where the kitchen industry tends to juggle numbers so that you can’t really see through it.

Also, I’m not a big fan of upper cabinets; they feel a bit cramped here and make the space below more limited. Plus, handles, wood grain patterns… I personally prefer a clean look with clear colors and shapes. But that’s just my opinion and absolutely nothing more!

And........an attractive exterior facade can always be achieved with a well-chosen architect.

However....I believe that with your project, you might not be truly satisfied here anymore, as quite a bit of damage has already been done. The people here participate voluntarily, and whatever happened, I assume they share your interests and mean no harm. If I had even the slightest doubt about that, I would stay away or, better yet, avoid sharing my private matters online altogether. When a construction project is discussed here, you can eventually figure out where the house is located if you want to, or the person interested only reveals information bit by bit, which isn’t enjoyable for anyone. Maybe you’ll manage to create a positive atmosphere again; I really recommend consulting an interior architect beforehand (as mentioned), and you will enjoy working on the many additional details with them.

The people here participate voluntarily, and whatever happened, I assume they are like-minded individuals who mean no harm. If I even remotely doubted that, I would stay away or better yet not discuss my private matters on the internet at all. When a build is accompanied here, you can usually piece together where the house is located if you want, or the interested party only reveals information bit by bit, which is no fun for anyone. Maybe you can create a good atmosphere again; I really recommend you consult an interior designer first (as mentioned), and you will enjoy working on the many additional details together.

What does that have to do with the kitchen?
