The unpleasant feeling that a stranger with bad intentions has been in your home is actually the valid argument I see for investing in security. The feeling of privacy and safety is priceless. But if the burglars get in anyway, that feeling is gone—and it’s not restored by replacing the expensive lock any more than by replacing a cheap one.

That’s probably more accurate, but a high-security lock won’t help if I get robbed while I’m out. And if I get robbed at home, it probably won’t help either, since the door will likely be open when the robber pretends to be a delivery person from DHL or Hermes.

You mean, "do whatever you want," everything is fine as long as you can live with the consequences? Yes, but I also like to discuss things.

Burglars look for side entrances where they are less likely to be seen. You don’t need to put much thought or money into the front door. A (somewhat better) standard door is fine. Make sure everything always looks occupied. It’s better to invest in good patio doors and windows.

Yes, my question was basically whether it is worth spending a lot of money on security if you do not actually plan to keep high-value items in the house. So #4 sums it up quite well.

Or always keep the TV on at a high volume. Haha.
